Otsego handled their second opponent of the day without incident, and came away with a 4-0 win and a chance at the weekend title. The first half was frustrating for Otsego who saw six or seven solid goal scoring opportunities travel just wide of frame, or be swallowed up by the goalkeeper. The team was keeping possession and switching fields nicely, but just couldn't seem to find the end product early.
McKenzie Milton put the Bulldogs on the board early in the second half when Grace VerHage slipped a ball behind the back line and Milton carried it 35 yards and tucked it past the keeper. Junior Ambre Powell, who had played the first half in goal, set up fellow Junior Faith Miller for the Dawgs second score of the match. Miller's first time strike at the back post off the cross by ambre was the first of her high school career, and an exciting moment for the team!
Two Alison Diller goals put the contest out of reach, and she nearly completed her hat trick in the dying seconds of the match. Alison's first goal was a laser beam from 25 yards out on center that left the goalkeeper no chance. Her second was assisted by Freshman center midfielder Lexus Putt (her first point tally of the season) off a short corner play worked to perfection.
The Dawgs take on Mt. Pleasant in their third match that will decide the tournament Champion.
