Otsego traveled up US131 Wednesday evening to take on Wayland in a non-conference match. The Bulldogs weathered a one-man storm in the form of Senior attacker Chuck Wrobleski (15), who fired off 6 shots and tested the Bulldog goalkeeper many times. Jayden Dentler was up to the task in his second start, holding the home side scoreless for the first 40 minutes. The Dawgs failed to connect their passes efficiently and test the Wayland keeper many times in the first half. Missing starting forward, Junior Jace Engels was a factor... Especially in the air and from set pieces.

The home team created a moment of magic on the counterattack, driving the ball through the heart of the Bulldog defense and slotting the ball to Wrobleski for the close-range shot. The Dawgs switched formations and started dominating possession and stringing together passes in the attacking third. Three huge saves from the Wayland keeper in the last 10 minutes of the match kept the visiting Bulldogs scoreless. A 1-0 scoreline seemed about fair in the end, and the home side enjoyed their first victory on the young season. 

Dentler recorded 13 saves in goal, while the Wayland GK made 11 for the clean sheet. 

Otsego will take on Thornapple-Kellogg next Tuesday at home.
