Boys Varsity Bowling vs. Lakeview High School

So school might have been on break but our bowling teams were already back in action for one of the busiest weekends of the year for the teams.  Saturday both teams were in action in the southwest Michigan conference at continental lanes vs battle creek Lakeview. The boys bowled fairly well but ran into a Lakeview team on a mission. Senior Jack Ordway did what he could in the first game to keep the bulldogs close with his 231 game but it was not enough as Lakeview won the match 28 to 2.  The girls match was a battle of two undefeated teams. The bulldogs took both baker games in two close ones to take a 10-0 lead. Midway through the first team game Lakeview was pulling away when Otsego got hot and finished with a fury to to take game 1 by a score of 7-2 with a nice 172 game from Senior Alicyn Klok. Game 2 again started out slow but Alicyn Klok got on a roll and strung 6 strikes in a row on her way to a 203 game and 382 series to help lead the bulldogs to an incredible 25

Girls Varsity Wrestling vs. East Jackson High School

The Girls Varsity Wrestlers got their first taste of tournament action at East Jackson on December 8th. They followed up at Parchament HS on December 16th placing with three placers: Bailey Mcillwain - 3rd, Lexi Phillips - 5th, Sam Bonovetz - 4th

Boys Varsity Wrestling vs. Allegan High School

At the Allegan Individual Invitational Otsego Wrestling team placed 9th. Individual Placers: Brendon Bohl - 1st, Lane Blanchard 2nd, Zeke Andrina 3rd, Jialon Herbert 6th

Girls Varsity Bowling vs. Vicksburg High School

Otsego Bowling started Wolverine conference play last night with a home match with Vicksburg. It was a great opening night because we were able to get everyone on the team some match play. Vicksburg brought along their Jv team and we were able to have a varsity girls match a varsity boys match and a jv mixed match. The Otsego Girls team won their match 30 to 0. 4 of the girls averaged over 128 a game which would have been good enough to make all conference first or second team last year so it was a great start. High game of the night went to junior Mercedes Edney with a 184 and senior Alicyn Klok shot a 180. Mercedes also led the team in series last night with a 331 series to set her average at 165 to start play. Alicyn Klok was just behind her with a 317 series. Wybie Burke and Lily Jones both were above their averages from last year also with Wybie averaging 148.5  and Lily averaging 128. Paige Bender also shot over 100 in her second game. Girls Varsity Bowling vs. Paw Paw High School

Girls team is loaded with returning talent as 5 out of our 6 varsity bowlers from last year return. 4 Seniors Alicyn Klok ( 3 year state qualifier and all conference ) Wybie Burke (returning 2nd team all conference) Lily Jones  and Paige Bender and they will be helped by junior Mercedes Edney (just missed qualifying for state last year) . They will be supported by a couple of newcomers this year. Sophomore Sadie Jacobs and Freshman Madelyn Borling.  The girls team started out with some nerves in the first baker game but hung on to win it and then shot an impressive 156 second baker game to sweep bakers and went on to sweep the match 30 to 0. Alicyn Klok led all scores with a 170 and Wybie Burke shot a 153 to lead the bulldogs to victory. Sadie Jacobs made her varsity debut and shot a nice opening game. 

Boys Varsity Bowling vs. Paw Paw High School

Otsego opened the Southwest conference season against the city so nice they named it twice. The Boys team had 4 seniors graduated from last year's varsity team and 1 other student moved away so they are mostly new faces to the varsity this year.  Junior Dylan Towne had high game of the day for the boys with a 185 and Sophomore Cole Kortokrax ( who spent a good amount of time on varsity as a freshman) had high series for the bulldogs. They won their match 28.5 to 1.5. With it being senior day for this conference we took 7 athletes with us to the match including senior Brayden Willover. Senior jack Ordway (has been on varsity all 4 years) provides some experience to the team. Other bowlers getting a little more experience with varsity this year included returning  Sophomores Phoenix Orona and Jayce Selby and a first year bowler Max Gilson as a Junior made his varsity debut.

Otsego bowling had another great night of bowling. The girls won 29 to 1 to improve their record to 4 -2 in wolverine conference and are currently in third place with a huge matchup with undefeated three rivers next Wednesday at Eastland for senior night. Match to start at 430pm. Tonight all Bulldogs were firing on all cylinders as Alicyn Klok lead the way with a 342 series and a 191 game. Wybie burke shot 315 series and McKinley Kinnane shot 282 series and Mercedes Edney 278 series with Paige Bender getting a 118 game and Maria "Dudaa" Luceno getting a 98 game.    Boys had a great evening winning 28 to 2 to also improve their record to 4-2 in wolverine conference and are also in third place. The boys shot an amazing 990 game tonight with sophomore Connor Farrish shooting a 232 game and a conference leading 430 series.  Robert Phillips also shot a 213 game and all boys were above their average. The also have a huge mat h next Wednesday against three

4 Matches in 5 days for the boys and the girls. Some good, some bad and some outstanding.  Friday night was in Sturgis and both teams were short handed and bowled like we had a 2 hour road trip to the game. Sturguis girls won 22 to 8 in a close match that both teams bowled well under their averages. Boys team also bowled well under average and lost 26 to 4.   Saturday the otsego girls took on another undefeated team for a second week in a row and took the match 3-0 in a very close match even though otsego won 3-0. Otsego took 1 baker game by 24 pins and lost the other one by 16 pins to win the first point by 8 pins. Then in regular games otsego won by 1 pin to take the 2nd point and overall match 18 to 12 for the third point. Alicyn Klok had a 192 game and a 352 series but her 10th frame in game 2 sealed the victory for otsego with 2 strikes and an 8 count to end.it by the 1 pin.Otsego  boys were also on fire winning 3-0 taking one
